If you wouldn’t want your first time playing a game ruined by someone else then you shouldn’t do it to them. This includes over-aggressively hinting at what’s to come.

Even if you mean well the general rule of thumb is unless the player specifically asks for it don’t backseat game.

One other problem is not related to the game itself, but rather its community, as many fans of the series have a bad habit of trying to backseat game new players into doing specific things, even when the player specifically says no backseating, which annoys both the new players and the more respectful fans. Outside of that though we never really encountered any major issues or bugs aside from the subtitles not always matching up to what’s being said. Thankfully the game does auto-save your progress so restarts are only a mild annoyance at most. If there’s one flaw with the game is that it does have a tendency to crash when in full screen, which the game does warn about but still. Some characters are easy to get while others are hard, with each character having a 1-3 star rating based on their collection difficulty (bios below courtesy of the Henry Stickmin wiki). Most are silly, and some are even references to other people or characters, but others add to the lore. Finally each episode also has character bios for every character appearing in it, which you can get by right-clicking on them (Henrys is always available). Each episode also has a set of achievements, some of which are simple while others are hidden. The music is also good and catchy too, and as a nice bonus the end of each path has a download link to the music used in said path. Sure many of them sound the same but there’s enough difference in most of them that that’s never an issue (if anything it’s more impressive given the ranges). Of course that’s all well and good but special mention has to go to PuffballsUnited, who provides the voices of all male characters in the game (Reese B does the same for females). There’s even one unique instance of a fail in one path interacting with a fail in another path.

In one fail you may accidentally teleport into a wall, in another you may get crushed by a giant piece of coal, and in another you might try calling in an ally who unfortunately has a bad habit of trying to ram his helicopter into things. While some options lead to success, most options lead to fails, and it’s in these fails that most of the charm of the game shines through, as failing is often more fun than succeeding. The game is broken up into 6 episodes (5+prologue): Breaking the Bank, Escaping the Prison, Stealing the Diamond, Infiltrating the Airship, Fleeing the Complex and Completing the Mission (new to the series). In case it wasn’t obvious The Henry Stickmin Collection is a series of point-and-click adventure games where you pick an option and see how it plays out. Once inside though Henry sets off the alarm and gets arrested and throw in jail, thus ending the Prologue and beginning the story in earnest as Henry now tries to escape from jail. The story begins with the titular Henry Stickmin who in need of money tries to rob a bank and your goal is to help him find a way in. I played it together with my brother (who was kind enough to provide me with screenshots for this post) and we both really enjoyed it. Years later the games were updated and remastered and included in one package called The Henry Stickmin Collection, released on August 6th, 2020. I was introduced to Henry via my brother and really enjoyed it. Before that however, there was Henry Stickmin, made by PuffballsUnited on Newgrounds, a site host to tons of flash games. In my very first Blagust post I talked about Among Us, a game made by Innersloth.
